To begin Homecoming weekend, we inducted six new members into the Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, Sept. 20, in Rice Auditorium. We also honored last year’s student-athletes and coaches of the year.
Because of high temperatures forecasted for Homecoming afternoon, kickoff for the September 21 game against Culver-Stockton was moved up to 11 a.m. This meant we had to cancel the tailgate, but we still had great time watching the No. 17 Wildcats blow out Culver-Stockton 61-7. At halftime we honored our Hall of Fame members and newest inductees. Saturday evening, women’s soccer beat Culver-Stockton 3-2, and the men posted their second straight shutout: 2-0 against Culver-Stockton. On Saturday morning volleyball fell 3-1 to Mount Mercy and on Sunday won 3-0 against Clarke.
And we’re excited to extend tailgate season! Join us at 11 a.m., October 26, before the game against Central Methodist. During halftime we will recognize our first Team of Distinction, the 1986 football team that played in Baker’s first National Championship game.
The tailgate, outside Liston Stadium, will feature a barbeque lunch by Moose’s Backwoods BBQ. Lunch is free to alumni, students, staff, faculty, parents, and Baker fans. We hope to see you in the big tent!
