1960s

Duane Gabrielson, ’66, was inducted into the Shawnee Mission South High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Gabrielson, a retired math teacher and coach, was inducted for his 35-year coaching career with boys and girls tennis.

1970s

Greg Goff, ’71, and Helen Elliott (wife of Nelson Elliott, ’66) were on hand for a ceremonial ribbon cutting that officially opened the Mansfield-Elliott Men’s Basketball Locker Room. The locker room project was named in honor of two Baker alumni: Charles Mansfield, ’57, and Nelson Elliott, ’66.

Cheryl Brown Henderson, ’72, was the keynote speaker for an event in Michigan honoring Martin Luther King Jr.

1980s

Spencer Breithaupt, ’83, was appointed the 2022 chairman of the Kansas City Animal Health Corridor. Breithaupt is the vice president of sales and supply chain solutions at MWI Animal Health.

Marcia Werts, ’81, worked in various roles with The Wichita Eagle from 1998 to 2019. After working at an Eagle’s parent company in Sacramento, California, she returned to The Eagle as managing editor in January 2022.

1990s

Jan (Hammond) Carlson, ’99, was recently promoted to Colonel and became the 107th Medical Group Commander at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.

Kit Harris, ’96, ’03 MSSL, was named the National Coach of the Year for girls wrestling. He coaches both girls and boys wrestling at Baldwin High School. The honor was announced by the National Federation of State High School Associations.

Kristen Hase, ’92, was announced as the new superintendent of the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve by the National Park Service.

2000s

Miko (Richardson) Blackman, ’06, was recently featured in FEAST Magazine’s Rising Stars 2022: Kansas City. Blackman is the owner of Shots by Miko, a company offering bartenders for hire for events, boutique bar services, custom cocktail creations, and more.

Molly Schlobohm, ’09, was named president and chief operating officer for Argosy Cruises. Schlobohm will continue to lead Argosy Cruises through pandemic recovery while positioning the company as a top tier, sustainable attraction in Seattle, Washington.

2010s

Mariah Barnett, ’13, director of orchestras for Lawrence (Kansas) High School, was recognized by the Lawrence Board of Education as she was recently honored as the Northeast District Kansas Music Educators Association Outstanding High School Music Educator.

Dr. William Duncan, ’12, assistant professor of mathematics at Baker, and Dr. Lauren Breithaupt, ’13, assistant professor at Harvard Medical School, are spearheading a new pipeline program for Baker students. Researchers at Harvard Medical School have partnered with Baker students to help with research for Diversity Enhancement Grants provided by the National Institutes of Health. Read more.

Dannie Harris, ’12, was named director of advancement communications at Emporia State University.
