Team Lowry: A Legacy of Love, Leadership, and Baker Pride

“You saw me for the first time at the Apple machine in the cafeteria of sixth grade,” Jeff recalls with a laugh. What started as childhood friendship grew into a relationship that would shape not only their lives but their family’s connection to Baker University.

When it came time for college, Baker became the obvious choice—though Jeff and Amanda still debate who picked it first. “I was raised a Jayhawk and always thought I’d be a Jayhawk,” Amanda says, “but then I went to Baker and loved it. The small school won over for me.” Jeff adds, “I signed my letter of intent to play soccer before she committed.”

College wasn’t just about classes and soccer—it was about community. “We were both house presidents at the same time. It was fun to see those groups come together and build lifelong relationships.” Those bonds lasted far beyond graduation. “When we lost my dad this year, the Tri Delta girls were the ones who came to the hospital first. They were on my front porch when we got home.”

Early in their marriage, Jeff and Amanda realized something important: “If we can be a team here, we’re going to have some fun. Take care of each other. Support each other.” That philosophy became Team Lowry—a family mantra rooted in Baker values of collaboration and commitment.

Reconnecting with Baker as alumni opened Jeff’s eyes. “You meet with the students and realize these are some great kids doing great things. A lot of times they just want to talk to somebody, hear your story, share theirs.” For Jeff and Amanda, giving back isn’t just financial—it’s about time, mentorship, and being present.

Team Lowry’s journey is a testament to what makes Baker special: lifelong friendships, a supportive community, and opportunities to lead and grow.
