Baker Athletics raises record amount at annual golf tournament

The 14th Annual Wildcat Classic Golf Tournament soared to new heights at Dub’s Dread Golf Course in Kansas City. A field of 148 golfers and 85 sponsors helped Baker Athletics raise over $46,000, the most in the tournament’s history. And the event sold out a month earlier than ever before.

“I would like to thank everyone who helped make this the most successful tournament to date.  Baker Athletics appreciates all the support from alumni and family and friends of Baker University, said Susan Decker, director of athletics.

Helmets signed by Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Chris Jones were two of the most sought-after items in the auction, as well as one signed by 1987 Baker graduate Mike McCarthy, head coach of the 2010 Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers and current head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

“The weather was perfect, our golfers had fun, and we helped raise some good money for our Department of Athletics. All in all, it was a pretty good day for Baker University,” said Doug Barth, ’91, director of alumni relations.

Be sure to save the date for next year’s tournament: Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, at Dub’s Dread Golf Course.
